(2004-2007)

2004

  1. Repertorium of Old Bulgarian Literature and Letters (permanent national project; financed by BAS). Head: A. Miltenova. The work on the corpus of metadata (analytical descriptions of Slavic manuscripts) continued. Special attention to the elaboration of the visualization of comparative study of the content of manuscripts (svg format) has been paid in joint work of the team in Bulgaria with Prof. David Birnbaum (Pittsburgh University, USA). Presentations of the project: in Gothenburg, Sweden (May-June 2004), Vienna, Austria (July 2004), St Petersburg (October, 2004). Presentation by A. Miltenova: “Computer Processing of Medieval Slavic Sources: Experience of the Repertorium Project”, in: Digitisation Of Cultural And Scientific Heritage, international seminar, accompanying the kick-off meeting of the KT-DigiCULT-BG project (28 August – 3 September 2004, Bansko, Bulgaria).
  2. Christian Hagiology and Pagan Beliefs (computer database) (2004–2006) (national project, IL BAS and Sofia University; financed by National Science Fund). Head: E. Tomova. Preliminary work on the first stage of the project – structure of the information of the cults of saints and of the data base in XML, collecting the source materials in the Slavic literature and culture, etc.
  3. Metadata and Electronic Catalogues (Multilingual Resources for Scientific Medieval Terminology) (2004–2007) (national project, IL BAS and Sofia University; financed by National Science Fund). Head: A. Miltenova. First stage of the project: lay down the project guidelines; building the authority files; producing of the list of terms and structure of the thesaurus, etc.
  4. Machine-readable description and searchable catalogues of Cyrillic Manuscripts. British-Bulgarian project (2003–2006) (joint project between British Library, Central Library of BAS and Department of Old Bulgarian Literature; financed both by British Academy and Bulgarian Academy). Coordinator: A. Miltenova. The work on the description of the Slavic collection continued with special attention to the paleography and codicology. D. Radoslavova (specialist from IL BAS) worked in BL for 3 weeks. Digitalization of the microfilms in CL BAS was continued.
  5. Computer databases of Old Slavic manuscripts (2002–2004) (joint project between Institute of Russian Language, Russian Academy of Sciences and Department of Old Bulgarian Literature; financed both by Russian and Bulgarian academies). Coordinator: A. Miltenova. The project finished with workshop and presentation of the databases in two institutions in Moscow. The future plans about electronic editions were discussed.

2005

  1. Repertorium of Old Bulgarian Literature and Letters (permanent national project; financed by BAS). Head: A. Miltenova. The work on the corpus of metadata (analytical descriptions of Slavic manuscripts) continued. The main events in 2005 were the international conference and workshop AZBUKY.NET (24–27 October 2005) and meeting of TEI consortium (October 2005) in Sofia. Over 50 specialists from 14 countries participated in AZBUKY.NET. The conference and workshop were supported by the Central European Initiative.
  2. Christian Hagiology and Pagan Beliefs (computer data base) (2004–2006) (national project, IL BAS and Sofia University; financed by National Science Fund). Head: E. Tomova. The project continued; the cults of S. Ivan Rilski, St. Petka of Epivat, etc. have been processed.
  3. Metadata and Electronic Catalogues (Multilingual Resources for Scientific Medieval Terminology) (2004–2007) (national project, IL BAS and Sofia University; financed by National Science Fund). Head: A. Miltenova. The list with authority files has been finished; the ontology has been structured.
  4. Machine-readable description and searchable catalogues of Cyrillic Manuscripts. British-Bulgarian project (2003–2006) (joint project between British Library, Central Library of BAS and Department of Old Bulgarian Literature; financed both by British Academy and Bulgarian Academy). Coordinator: A. Miltenova.

Современные библиотечно-информационные системы и методы презервации ценных библиотечных коллекциях (древных рукописей, первопечатных книг и архивы) (2005–2008) (joint project between Library of Russian Academy, St Petersburg, Central Library of BAS and Department of Old Bulgarian Literature; financed both by Russian Academy and Bulgarian Academy).

2006

  1. Repertorium of Old Bulgarian Literature and Letters (permanent national project; financed by BAS). Head: A. Miltenova. Continued. The project has been presented at the Digital Humanities Congress (Paris, 5–9 July 2006) by A. Miltenova: “The Repertorium Initiative: Computer Processing of Medieval Manuscripts”. The project was appreciated very much in the discussion.
  2. Christian Hagiology and Pagan Beliefs (computer database) (2004–2006) (national project, IL BAS and Sofia University; financed by National Science Fund). Head: E. Tomova. Continued. The structure of the data base finished and evaluated.
  3. Metadata and Electronic Catalogues (Multilingual Resources for Scientific Medieval Terminology) (2004–2007) (national project, IL BAS and Sofia University; financed by National Science Fund). Head: A. Miltenova. 70 terms in the thesaurus finished (genre characteristic of Old Slavonic texts). Implementation of the XML structure of the ontology.
  4. Machine-readable description and searchable catalogues of Cyrillic Manuscripts. British-Bulgarian project (2003–2006) (joint project between British Library, Central Library of BAS and Department of Old Bulgarian Literature; financed both by British Academy and Bulgarian Academy). Coordinator: A. Miltenova. 70 descriptions of Slavic manuscripts finished.
